The artist / New York

Sadone.

I’m Sadone, a Colombian artist from Bogotá, now working in New York. Black & Grey Realism is my principal focus: a way of building an image through shadow, light and the relationships between tones.

A developed perspective

Shadow &
light.

My formal creative background began around eight years ago with university-level artistic education, studies in Advertising and technical education in Graphic Communication. For approximately the last three years, my professional artistic focus has been tattooing.

Exploring different techniques brought me closer to shadow and tonal construction. Black & Grey became a way to express my own artistic perspective through tattooing.

Designing for the body

The body.
The whole.

Tattooing changed how I approached design. Each person’s anatomy gives a composition a different structure. I consider how the work will move and flow on that specific body: its scale, where attention rests, how the elements relate and how the whole remains readable over time. The body is part of the design from the beginning.

Current direction

A personal
composition.

I’m especially interested in larger projects that let me develop a complete composition for one person. Individual pieces matter too: an opportunity to bring my perspective to something the client wants to express.

Over the past three years, I’ve also participated in US tattoo conventions, including New England Tattoo Convention, Tommy’s Tattoo Convention and Villain Arts events.
